Medical disclaimer

How to interpret the information on this site, in plain terms. Please read it — it matters more than most of our pages.

Ownminded is an independent magazine. Everything on this site — articles, summaries, and related material — is published for general information and education. It is not written for your specific health, circumstances, or jurisdiction, and it is not a replacement for professional care.

Informational and educational use only

Our articles are educational. We write about patterns seen across many autistic people, and about what research has found on the whole. What is true for "many people" may not be true for you, and we have no way of knowing your situation.

Not a substitute for professional medical care

Nothing on this site is intended as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Content here does not replace consultation with a qualified health professional who has examined you and knows your history. Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified provider with any questions about a medical condition. Never disregard or delay professional advice because of something you have read on Ownminded.

No clinician–patient relationship

Using this website does not create a doctor–patient, therapist–client, or any other professional relationship between you and Ownminded, its authors, editors, or contributors. Reading is not a consultation.

Accuracy, completeness, and timeliness

We work hard to be accurate, but we are human and health knowledge is always moving. Content may become outdated, may omit details that matter in your situation, or may contain errors despite our best efforts. We do our best, and mistakes do happen — we are open about that.

Ownminded makes no representation or warranty that any information on this site is complete, current, or applicable to any particular person.

Emergencies

If you think you may be experiencing a medical or mental-health emergency, call your local emergency number immediately (for example, 911 in the United States) or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not rely on this website for emergency guidance.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ownminded and its contributors disclaim liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or its content, whether direct or indirect. The site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

This disclaimer is not legal advice. If you need terms reviewed for your jurisdiction or situation, consult a qualified attorney.
